Tony's 10 Metre Band Report
10 April , 2008

Another good weekend with the DX coming from all over. Unfortunately it wasn’t going to the UK. I heard nothing again. D44AC (Cape Verde) quite popular, PY2CX very active, 5U5U (Niger) and XU7ACY (Cambodia) were both sort after all week, but I guess the real DX was A35RK (Lifuka Island, Tonga).

There were quite a few others if the air waves were in your direction. Gary, G0FWX, is the only UK station to make it into the list this week unless you eagle-eyed punters can spot another.

Most popular DX (two or more reported contacts).

Monday: D44AC, 7P8FC, PU5OGE, WH7CB, HL2/KC6STQ, IZ1NDZ, EA8ALD, 9W2RZL, HR1/K2LCT, IS0UWS, IZ8DWN, VE2QRA.

Carl, VR2CB, says,
“Conditions the last week have been pretty good from VR2 with a fair bit of activity most days (for a change!). 10m has been open every day to VK and inter Asia with openings also to the mid east. I'm going to be QRT for a while as I'm off to the Mid east later today; I understand that I may get a license where I am going but will need to sit an exam and a code test and they are not held that often.”
Best of luck to you in the new post Carl and do keep us informed of the licence application and radio activities.

KG4ZDM, Trent, went after TI8AA/5 on Friday and comments:
“Hear him, can’t work him, 2350z”.
Tough but at least you could hear him.

Dave VK5MRD, has been having a tough time too. Thursday just 9W2RZL. Saturday heard KH6AP beacon and VK3XQ on back scatter. Worked:- ZL2APF, KG6ACG, W6VA and Monday
“I have been working too much so not much to report.”
Life can be a b***ch at times.

Contests: YLRL contest Friday 11 th 14:00 to 02:00 Sunday 13 th (wierdos). This is for YLs to talk to YLs only. (not many contacts but each one will last for ages). There are a few other small/short contests but they are not for 10m or they are CW only.

Sun: Blank yet again. The International Space Station is continuing to grow in size and is as bright as Venus even when not directly over head. This week it’s good for viewing in US and Canada.
