Harold, KC2BPP, has only just found this column, where have you been these last few years?

He says, “Tony, no conditions at all. Just me and my local pounding the brass to see if anyone come back. But now that I found your page. I will keep you up to date here in NYC.”
And he worked WA2LOT 5/9 who is also in NY so a local contact really. Still more than I’ve had!! And look at this shack, pretty much like mine and I suppose lots of others around the world.

Well loads of stuff worked there Dave mostly VK and ZL but lots of other juicy DX. Even with the VKs and ZLs, Oz is such a huge place that they’re not really locals. So get as much operating in now before the babe arrives 'cus I bet you’ll do less of it when it does arrive.

Nothing from Mitchel in South Africa this week nor from Carl in Hong Kong. I would guess that Carl is back at work in the Middle East or maybe in Africa somewhere.

Contests: Saturday 00:00 - Sunday 24:00 Hunting Lions in the Air (SSB & CW). Saturday 12:00 - Sunday 23:59 MI-QRP Club January CW Contest. Saturday 14:00 – 18:00 Midwinter Contest (CW) and Sunday 10:00 – 14:00. Saturday 18:00 - Sunday 06:00 North American QSO Party (CW). Sunday 00:00 – 23:59 SKCC Weekend Sprintathon (CW). Sunday 06:30 – 08:30 NRAU-Baltic Contest (CW) and ) 09:00 – 11:00 (SSB). Sunday 09:00 – 10:59 DARC 10m-Contest (SSB & CW). So quite a few spread around over the weekend to keep you on your toes.

Sun: The first sunspot of 2009, which appeared yesterday in the sun's southern hemisphere, has fizzled out. The sunspot's dark core coalesced, then dissolved again in just under 24 hours.
That was enough time to measure the sunspot's magnetic field, however, and the polarity of the field identified the spot as a member of new Solar Cycle 24.

Comet Lulin (C/2007 N3), discovered in 2007 by a Strait-bridging team of astronomers from Taiwan and China, is swinging around the sun and approaching Earth. Astronomer Karzaman Ahmad sends this picture taken Jan. 7th from the Langkawi National Observatory in Malaysia.

And news from G4TUT, the editor.
He didn’t get 'On Air' at all over the festive season! End of news item. However his comment is that he probably heard as much on Ten Metres by not listening as I did by listening and calling CQ. And, damit, he’s right!
