According to a source of some depth, the 28.250 sync beacon group looks like it is breaking apart. Gary, K7EK recently parted ways with the group and went full-time instead. That brought the total full-time beacon count on a single frequency to five! That is, if you don't count the beacons just 10 and 20 Hz. adjacent.
Bill, WJ5O asked those on 28.250 running full-time to increase the gaps between IDs to allow other beacons on frequency a chance to be heard through the clutter. So far, all have complied.
K7EK is an 'Official Observer', which is someone who takes it upon themselves to report activity to the ARRL and ultimately to the FCC which they believe is not in the best interest of amateur radio. For a short time, K7EK was operating as an un-coordinated beacon since his break from the sync crowd was not done with prior coordination. It is unknown if he filed a complaint against himself.
VK5MRD still keeps going, just!
“Saturday 11/07/2009. Stations heard were:- VK2RSY/b, VK4RTL/b, VK6RBP/b, VK6RWA/b and VK8VF/b. Stations worked were:- VK4CQ.

Stations worked were:- Only VK4WT/portable on the "Conjuboy" Cattle Station, some 300km inland from Cairns in far north Queensland. I should also apologise for the delay in QSL cards for any stations still awaiting a QSL card from my station. The delay as a result from illness, work commitments at General Motors and a new baby will be sorted soon. All cards will be answered, if you wish to contact me please look me up on QRZ.com.” I’m sure everyone, especially the ones who have had kids will understand Dave.
Edward, MA3009SWL, heard: HA8IC 5/9, DL3TVI 5/9, DM2DTH 5/9, HA8LNN 5/9.
Monday 29 th August he heard: SP6KEP 5/9, LX/PD7RB/P, Tuesday, DK4WF 5/9, OK2TSN 5/8, Monday 6 July, HA8IC 5/9, DL3TVI 5/9, DM2DTH 5/9, HA8LNN 5/9. He writes, “Sorry 2 entries were late, only just got on to your site. It’s been dead from Monday to today Friday.”
That’s fine Edward. SWL reports are most welcome here. Try to get them in on or before Wednesday for the previous week. (hope that makes sense) The editor like to publish on Wednesday evening or Thursday morning.
Laure, EA1DKF, heard: CN8AX 5/6, C31PP 5/6 QSB and C31PP. Thanks for the short report Laure, tell us a bit about where you are and your equipment. I think the name has a French origin but your entry on QRZ.com is unrevealing.
Carl VR2CB worked 8NH2Q 5/9, HS0ZCW 5/9, NU1AW/KH6 5/6, B7M 5/9, J03DDD 5/9 and heard: IU9HQ 4/2. Carl who, “has time on his hands” at the moment says,
“The IARU contest created quite a bit of activity here in Asia on 10m, both SSB and CW, mainly Sporadic E prop. (with all my contacts North of the equator). Best DX for me was NU1AW/KH6 who was real strong for more than an hour. The only European I heard was IU9HQ who popped up for a very short while then disappeared.”

Sun: Back to blank. Not too much happening in the sky. The International Space Station (ISS) lost its partner on July 13th when Progress 33 re-entered Earth's atmosphere and disintegrated over the Pacific Ocean. The Russian supply ship had been accompanying the ISS for nearly two weeks, treating sky watchers to double flybys. Soon, the ISS will have a new friend: Space shuttle Endeavour, delayed by weekend lightning, is scheduled to launch today Wednesday, July 15 th. (Spaceweather.com)
We survive the first Ashes Test Match by dint of a battling Monte Panesar and Jimmy Anderson. I have two tickets for tomorrow’s first day at Lord’s. Son James, who has just arrived from Oz, and I will be there! The weather forecast is not great but better than Friday’s.
