Sunday's map

The two maps show a significant amount of European activity in the IOTA contest with quite a few Gs in there.

Angelo, CT1JTQ (ex IZ1FGU, I1JS) writes,
“Hi, I'm an avid enthusiast of 10m band. At the moment I'm automatically listening at NCDXF beacons (see www.iz1err.net/
iz1fgu/prop
) and also on WSPR (see www.wsprnet.org hitting Database entering my call and 10m). In few weeks one more automated SWL and logging of beacons of 10m band (site t.b.d.) If you think some data is useful for your page , please pick it up . Glad if it is of any help to other enthusiasts.”

Thanks Angelo, I will check it out for use in future bulletins.

According to Ten-Ten International News the best conditions are supposed to be August 5 th to 8 th and September 1 st to 4 th. Once again using the beacons is a good way to find what paths are open.

Sunday on SSB, Edward, MA3009SWL heard:
IS0/OM8A 5/9, IM0QMA 5/9 and AO1B 5/9 in the contest. Tuesday it was SP6KEP 5/9, IZ6BXV 5/9, I3CGV 5/8 and 4O3A 5/9 with S0/OM3BH 5/9, 4O3A 5/9, and IZ2KSF 5/9 on Wednesday (today). There has been quite a lot of activity from central Europe this week.

David, CE2WZ says,
“Sorry I have not been in touch for some time. Band conditions have been pretty poor and it hasn’t really been worth making the effort. 10 metres usually is silent though I have discovered from time to time that it is open though not active.

I was working the IOTA Contest over the weekend and went up on 10 where I made 7 contacts all within about 10 minutes – USA and Bahamas. Conditions were optimum and I had one 58 QSO though brief due to the contest. I worked N6QQ, K1TTT, C6APR, KQ6PK, WA4WIP, KC4EOG and KB3SPH.”
Glad to see you’re back on Ten Metres David.

James at Lords cricket ground

Michelle - James' better half

Sun: Blank again.

Son James and I had a great time at Lords on the first and last days of the Ashes Test match.

The amazing thing was that on the last day we got to see Flintoff take a fivefer, England win their first Lord’s Test Match against the old enemy in 75 years and Lords is going to give us half our ticket money back!!

Some people had paid £80 to ticket touts to get in and they will get nothing back. Tough.

And believe it or not I actually got rf out of the Editor’s establishment in ‘TUT Towers.

Unfortunately, it was on 70cm and
2m, but it’s a start, and we can work our way down to 10m.
