Tony's 10 Metre Band Report
18 June, 2008

Almost back to normal (for a minima). Some DX about but not lots of anything. TC0W did well as did 7X4AN. There were plenty of Portuguese (CT) and Spanish (EA/EC) stations so obviously the Peninsula was the flavour of the week. I managed only a couple of contacts with Russian stations. In fact it’s a long time since my call sign appeared in these lists.

Contests: Not much this weekend. The All Asian DX Contest is CW only 00:00 Saturday to 24:00 Sunday.

Sun: Spot 999 seem insignificant. This picture of the sun seems to show a plume of smoke swirling up from the inferno below.

In fact, it is a planet-sized wisp of solar hydrogen caught in the grip of an unwinding magnetic field--a solar prominence masquerading as smoke.

The eastern edge of the sun, has been alive with this kind of activity all week

Stoke have a tough September in the Premier League. Everton at home, followed by Liverpool away and then Chelsea at home. WOW. Still we’re up for it. Last match of the season is Arsenal away. I bet we’ll be fighting them for a place in Europe. Prize fixture though is Boxing Day at home to Man United!!
