All week 10m has been full of activity. Sunday was phenomenal with ZY0F topping the popularity stakes, but lots of other DX stations about. Good to see a UK station MD0CCE (Isle of Man), top on Thursday.

“Last Tuesday it seemed the whole US was open to Texas. Long time since signals went north. Heard NJ. Worked FL,GA,MO,OH,CO. Had a great time till 10pm. Also enjoyed rag chewing with the bunch in Ohio who run 28.427. My friend Terry (G0UNK) who lives in nw England heard US beacons and cw but no phone on Wednesday. Keep fingers crossed for some cross pond DX.”

“Please can you tell who is the operator of 10m beacon, OH9TEN?” Well I have no idea but the guys who read this article may know. I get excellent feed back on this type of question.

Tim, M0URX got quite excited.
“I got a bit addicted to 10m last weekend logging almost 200 QSOs from Friday night through to Sunday, although mostly Europe. I did manage a few UA9s Western Siberia, 7X4AN in Algeria, A71BX United Arab Emirates, HB0Y/DO4DXA Marc portable in Liechtenstein and the pick of the bunch for me has to be YN2N Octavio in Nicaragua on 28.405 late on Saturday evening at 22:19z his signal was difting in an out and it was a good hour before the QSO was logged but thrilling! On Sunday evening ZY0F was quite strong on 28.400 but conditions were again very QSB, finally logged at 21:00z.”

Dave (another one) M5ADX, worked 7X4AN,4O3A then thought, “Thought I would let you know I am using one of Justin (G0KSC) prototype LFA 3 element yagis for 10 meters at my QTH, It is on a temporary 25ft mast and fixed pointing south. Initial tests have been very promising against a 28 mhz vertical at 30ft sometimes a difference of 5-6 s points, lots of European sporadic E contacts but never around at the right time for the long haul stuff. Just wish I could fit in more operating time.”
Sound like a good one to try. Will look that antenna up. How big is it?

And Big Dave, VK5MRD is doing well for a guy with a new baby and not much time for Radio.

NASA has postponed Wednesday's launch of space shuttle Endeavour because of a leak associated with the gaseous hydrogen venting system outside the shuttle's external fuel tank. Endeavour's next launch opportunity is July 11.

New season’s fixtures are out. Stoke play Burnley at the Brit on opening day, 15 th August. In September we’ve got Chelsea on the 12 th and Man U on the 26 th both at the Brit. And last match of the season Man U away, hope they’re not banking on a win to win the Title!! I shall miss the home game against Arsenal as I’ll be in Oz visiting James.

This coming Friday and Saturday VE3SUN is visiting. It’s just a short stop on his paragliding tour. VE3SUN He’s not doing that here, he’s off to the Tate, then on his merry way again on Sunday. Wow, talk about a flying visit.
