Tony's 10 Metre Band Report
25 May, 2009
The activity noticeably tails of as the week progresses. There were however data collection problems over the past few days and may well account for some of the apparent lack of stations over Saturday and Sunday.
E709WRC is a special event station for the World Rafting Competition. 5V7PM (Togo) features heavily throughout the week.

Myrton, N1GKE seems to favour CW. Last Tuesday he heard KP3FT/B, N8RT/B, W4JPL/B and ND4ZB/B.
He says “Can't wait for this band to open all day long. From Rhode Island, USA, we may be adding a couple more beacons. Callsigns N1GKE, W1SNE, KO1E & W1GKE, will keep you posted. Many 73 from RI and see you on 28.025 sometime. The 'FARTS' listen there. Fraternal Amateur Radio Telegraphers Society.”
I wonder if their keying signals have a raspy sound?
Dave, VK5MRD did manage to escape babe duty for a while.
Saturday 23/05/2009. Stations heard were:- N4BNO, JA2IGY/b, ZL3TEN/b. ZL2MHF/b, VK2RSY/b, VK4RTL/b, VK7HDX and VK8VF/b. Stations worked were:- VK1DI, VK2SOB, VK4FICU, VK4FATS, VK4PN, VK4CQ and a few VK5`s. “Mum and new Bubs are now out of hospital and are doing well. I have only had a couple of chances to get on the radio. When 10m is quiet I have been playing on 20m with some really decent contacts into the US, Canada, Alaska and South Africa. Not bad for my dodgy wire antenna that I use on those "Other Bands"”.
Have you got a name for the little one yet? Let us know Dave.
Joe, G3ZDF who also seems to favour CW, heard 5R8FU 5/3 and A61Q 5/4. He also had a problem submitting reports using Firefox. Another error report for the editor to chase up.
Contests: This coming weekend there is really only one contest. CQ WW WPX. So polish up your super short snappy calls and work 10m.

Sun: Blank again although the is some activity in the form of magnetic filaments and fiery prominences on the edge of the sun’s disc.
Stoke ended the season in 12 th position out of 20, well clear of the relegation zone. We were well beaten by Arsenal 4 - 1 last match at the Emirates with all the goals coming in the first half. Try as I did, I could not get a ticket. Still next season we will be there.
