CE2WZ, David, had a good weekend.
“It was a very good weekend on 10 to North America from Chile though nothing heard from Europe. I took part in the 10-10 QSO party on Saturday and had 25 QSOs – 24 with USA and one with Panama.

On Sunday the band was open for about 3 hours and I made 67 QSOs mostly again to the USA. Below are only the non-USA contacts made.

By the way maximum power permitted on HF here is 1200 watts.
I had to upgrade my existing rig which is a TS430S as it does not interface easily with the computer and also does not have such modern facilities such as a voice keyer. I have had the old rig for 26 years so it gave me good service in 9M2, GW and now in CE. If the rig gets here safely I will probably buy a linear, maybe an 800 watt Ameritron.

I am in the process of applying for a 10-10 number to be able to take part in their contests. I do some CW though I am out of practice. My Fists Number is 14540 – so far only one QSO to Brazil on 10.

Finally I will be part of the Atacama Desert Group taking part in the CQWW Contest – we will be operating as CE1W on all bands including 10 metres and hope to be able to work lots of EU stations. So please look out for us.

So here’s what I worked (excluding the USA) over the weekend:”

Sun: Today, the sun is entering its 13th consecutive day without sunspots. Just a few years ago, such a stretch of blank suns would have been unthinkable. Now it's routine. So far this year, the sun has been spotless 79% of the time, topping the 73% mark recorded in 2008. Long after many forecasters thought solar minimum would be finished, the quiet is not only continuing, but actually deepening it seems. (Spaceweather.com)

Still no RF from G4TUT, too busy I guess! He has antennas.

Stoke have, along with all the other Premier Teams, been enjoying a well earned rest whilst the International World Cup Qualifiers are played. West Ham on Saturday and I’m trying for Spurs away tickets. We’ve only been allocated 1754 tickets, ludicrous!! So I may not get to Spurs which is spitting distance away from my house. Damn!!
