Tony's 10 Metre Band Report
21 October, 2009
How come Monday, of all days, was the best of the week? In fact it was pretty good on all the HF bands. Unfortunately it was not an indicator for the rest of the week, with the tail end being down right empty. Still, Monday had quite a few South American stations in there.

“19 th October: The FT2000D finally arrived today but still haven’t connected it up. However I got on 10 and it was pretty good again today. Nothing heard from northern Europe, nor from ZY0T all weekend.”
Let us know your 10-10 number when it arrives. Mine is 39925 but you’re not likely to hear it under present conditions.
And last but not least Tim, M0URX, worked TL0A (Central African Republic) at 16:47z Tuesday 20 Oct. Well done that man!
Contests:
Only one contest this weekend really, CQWW DX SSB. It does make you think, why have 10-10 International put a CW and a Digi contest on 1om when CQWW is an SSB contest?

The Orionid meteor shower is underway. Earth is passing through a stream of dusty debris from Halley's Comet, and this is causing meteors to shoot out of the constellation Orion. It’s reported to be a good one this year and should continue through Wednesday.
From NASA, "Earth is passing through a stream of debris from Halley's Comet, the source of the Orionids," says Bill Cooke of NASA's Meteoroid Environment Office. "Flakes of comet dust hitting the atmosphere should give us dozens of meteors per hour."
The best time to look is before sunrise on Wednesday, Oct. 21st. That's when Earth encounters the densest part of Halley's debris stream.
A good 3 points for a win against West Ham last Saturday keeps Stoke City up in the top half of the table. Spurs at White Hart Lane this Saturday and I’ve been lucky enough to get two tickets for me and Phil the brother-in-law. It’ll be a tough match, Lennon and Pavlyuchenko ran rings round us last season.
