Tony's 10 Metre Band Report

No reports from anyone this week, except one from a reader who pointed out that some of the calls listed last week were incorrect. It would seem that someone’s CW reading is slightly off. Now I would not presume to comment on such things as my CW is so rusty as to be non-existent. So take care, at least beacons repeat themselves so you can check.

I’m lending the Editor, ‘4TUT an all band vertical antenna. So listen out for his dulcet tones on, well, any band but certainly on 10m.

Sun: You’ve guessed it, the sun is blank, on this side only!
A big sunspot appears to be growing on the far side of the sun. Yesterday, the National Solar Observatory's GONG network detected helioseismic echoes from the sunspot's gathering magnetic field.

Today, NASA's STEREO-B spacecraft is beaming back images of an active region peeking over the sun's far-eastern limb--exactly where GONG data predicted it would be.

Irene Gonzalez-Hernandez, a solar physicist working on the GONG project, says "I believe this is a large active region belonging to new Solar Cycle 24. The sun's rotation should turn it toward Earth for direct viewing on Sept. 20 th. (Spaceweather.com).

Stoke v Chelsea, what can I say! We are 1 nil up until the 4th minute of 8 minutes of injury time in the first half and Chelsea score. Then it’s all level until the 3rd minute of 5 minutes of injury time in the second half when they score the winner and they did the same to us last year at Chelsea. Gutted is the only phrase that fits. Bolton away then Man U at the Brit. Bring them on.
