Tony's 10 Metre Band Report
30 September, 2009
A poor week, for some, but a good Saturday and an excellent Sunday to redeem things. FT5GA has been the current most popular darling of the band but was ousted on Sunday by LU1HF, Argentina and ZP6CW, Paraguay. I’ve not heard any of them nor the resulting pile up when they are heard in Europe. But we have news of friends in distant countries.

“All contacts were made around 20.00 to 21.30 UTC when band conditions appeared optimum between EU and South America.
I sent off my log to you yesterday Sunday but today was a red letter day on 10 metres and I made 44 QSOs in about 90 minutes. And luckily for me a new country EA9 Ceuta. The following is the list with signal reports – I hope it makes it in time for your weekly report. Let’s hope this is a sign that 10 metres is finally getting better .”
Monday : EA7AUN, HB3YVJ, EA2VE, EA2CTQ, EA8TL, IZ8MBW, EA7WP, 4O3A, EA5NH, F4AZF, EA2CXP, EA9BO, DL1EJA, PD5SS, EC8AUZ, PA0PAF, EB5RR, ON4LAN, EA5GS, EA5DIT, DH8MW, EA3URS, EA5GPQ, EA2DNY, EA2DVT, F5TDK, F4APS/M, EA5ADC, EA1VIC, EA4FKI, F4FBB, EC8ADS, EA5HJY, DL3KDS, EA5NA, EA3GMH, DK1AF, PY2USV, DL5ZL, DH8IAB, PY4AY, F1BGY, CT1EJB, CT3NA.
Well it seems to better for some but not for us Gs. I note your signals are not getting into G land. We are listening and shouting but to no avail.
Tim, M0URX worked Z21BC and heard FT5GA and ZD7FT on Monday (so someone in the UK is hearing stuff).
On Saturday Rudy, PD5SS, worked PU5OGE 5/9, ZP6DEM 5/5 and LU3MAM 5/6.
And on Monday ZD7FT 5/9, D2QMN 5/9, PU2WDX 5/7, CE2WZ 5/9, LU8EOT 5/9.
A late addition to Rudy’s list - Tuesday worked: CE5CJB 5/7
A nice bit of cross check there as David appears in Rudy’s list.
Dave VK5MRD has been in contact via email, his nearest shot at Ten Metres for a while.
“Just a quick email to say "Hi". Apart from trying to get over a bad cold we are well. Mum and little Bubs are well too. I find it amazing just how quickly my spare time just flies by. I have not had much of a chance to get on the radio for a while now. I think the last time was when I had a few hours spare to have a go on the VK Remembrance Day Contest. I am not sure how 10m has been shaping up over the last few months but I am missing my 10m!! I hope all is well over your way and we will catch you sometime soon.”
Thanks Dave, its good to know all is well and I’m sure the guys (in the generic, Australian sense, including all genders) who read this all know how it is when little harmonics spring up. And ten hasn’t changed a great deal while you have been absent, uppish some days and back down the next.
On Wednesday Ian, VK1DI, heard: JA2IGY/B 5/5 and KH6WO/B 5/3 on CW. He comments,
”Hi Tony, apart from beacons still fairly quiet on 10m here down under. Looking forward to better conditions in the spring.”
So Dave ‘MRD has no need to rush back to 10m

Sun: Spot 1027 is still visible but 1026 seems to have gone.
NASA spacecraft are measuring record-high levels of cosmic rays - a side-effect of the deepest solar minimum in nearly a century. The cosmic ray storm appears to be intensifying, say researchers, and the peak may be yet to come.

Stoke beaten by Man U, they were good but we were so negative and crap that we made them look better than they were. Everton away this Saturday, we need the points.
England progress to the semis of the ICC Champions Trophy but lose to New Zealand in getting there.
Nothing via RF from the editor, G4TUT, nor from my brother, G7BPG ,who has bought and erected a Butternut vertical antenna. He lives in Stoke so 10m will probably not be a good band between him and me.
